About Us

Newever Housing is a non-profit organisation committed to providing support for groups of vulnerable people within the community.

We offer a much-needed support service to those facing homelessness, those fleeing domestic violence, those suffering from mental health problems, ex-offenders and adults with learning difficulties.

We work with people suffering from different types of social exclusion by reaching out in to communities, local councils and homeless organisations to help those most in need across the country.

At Newever Housing we strongly believe that everyone deserves a second chance. We are passionate about working with those struggling through difficult times and offering them routes to be able to grow and make huge strides on their journey.

What We Do

We provide supported accommodation in houses with private outside garden space which are clean, safe and offer secure rooms that can be called home. This provides a much-needed base; a place where settled people flourish. With our custom support we work with our services users to help them get through the difficulties they may face.

The aim of supported accommodation is to give individuals the opportunity to live as independently as possible, with help from staff when needed. Our clients make their own choices, whenever possible and we support them towards their move-on plan. We provide individualised support in order for clients to become pro-active to make the transition from accommodation- based residential support to living independently. Our Support Workers provide support on budgeting, mental health, in addition to financial and social advice. To meet the needs of our clients, Newever Housing hold regular reviews and implement procedures to meet the wishes of our clients.

Homelessness - A hidden Emergency!

Homelessness is not limited to rough sleeping - in fact, the majority of homeless people are ‘hidden homeless’, sleeping on friends' floors and sofas, in bed and breakfasts or in supported accommodation such as hostels. Taking this into account, a December 2019 report by Shelter estimated that more than £320,000 million people are homeless in England.

The majority of people we work with have been ‘single homeless’ – people who are homeless but do not meet the ‘priority need’ criteria to be housed by their local authority under the law.

As this status is largely reserved for families with children, many vulnerable people tend to fall through gaps in services, and can easily find themselves trapped in a cycle of exclusion and homelessness.

While the new Homelessness Reduction Act, passed in April 2017, will go some way to extending local authorities' duty of care to a wider group of people, it is likely that single homeless people will still be disadvantaged and will continue to struggle to access the support they need.

With homelessness on the rise and cuts affecting the most vulnerable, our work is needed now more than ever.
